About Rhyl
Rhyl has been a popular seaside resort since the Victorian times. Like all resorts it has evolved and offers wide open beaches which stretch for miles and a superb promenade with many facilities in place.
There is a range of highly rated schools to choose from, which include the likes of Rhyl High School, Emmanuel County Primary School, Christ the Word Catholic School, Ysgol Bryn Hedydd and others.
Activities and leisure
The town’s contemporary face is best illustrated by Rhyl Harbour, a former historic timber yard which has been redeveloped into a busy hub of activity for residents and tourists, playing host to a promenade, café and the spectacular Pont y Ddraig bridge – a magnet for boating enthusiasts with fishing and boat trips readily available.
The nearby Rhuddlan Castle, built in 1277, is an architectural masterpiece and one of North Wales’ most prized historic assets.
2 miles of sandy coastline can be enjoyed at Rhyl Beach, whose eastern point is the location of the Sea Aquarium, one of the region’s most popular aquariums. Other family-friendly locations include the newly built SC2 indoor waterpark and leisure centre; Rhyl Miniature Railway; funfairs; arcades; Rhyl Pavilion; a cinema; and the 12 hectare Rhyl Marine Lake, offering sailing, canoeing, water-skiing, play areas and walking trails.
A mixture of restaurants, pubs and cafes are located throughout the town as well as independent and chain shops, some of which can be found in the indoor markets or the White Rose Shopping Centre.
Travel links
It is a fantastic connection point for the rest of North Wales and the country, home to its own railway station.
